Frequently Asked Questions About Our Plastic Surgery Clinic

Do I need a referral to be seen?

Currently all consultations with Dr. Budden require referrals from another health care provider.

What to expect at the initial consultation?

Typically Dr Budden will review your current problem, past medical and surgical history. Based on this any further investigators will be ordered if necessary. If required, a surgical plan will be made based on the problem. Some cases will require a referral to hand therapy for splinting or physiotherapy which may or may not be available on the same day as your initial visit.

When will I find out about my surgical date?

This depends on whether the procedure is being done under local anesthesia in clinic or in the operating room. Dr. Budden’s office will contact you if surgery is being done under general anesthesia. If under local anesthesia, his office will be able to schedule you a time.

I have more questions before surgery, is there a way to review?

Yes. Dr. Budden is able to meet with you again if new questions come up or you’d like some clarification. Please contact his office to arrange.

We live far outside of Edmonton, can we do a virtual visit?

Currently we do offer virtual follow ups via doxy.me (a secure virtual platform) or via telephone. Please contact his office to arrange or change your appointment if needed. These appointment times do vary. Pending the clinical problem, some issues cannot be managed virtually but it usually a good starting point.
